Family Getaway to The Nottawasaga Resort

We ended off our Summer vacation at the absolutely lovely Nottawasaga Resort located a short drive away from Toronto in Alliston, Ontario. Nottawasaga Resort is an all season, one-stop shop for family fun, leaving the busyness of the city at home all while making fabulous memories.

If you are looking for a close to home family getaway that includes on-site amenities, organized children/family activities, beautiful grounds, pools, mini golf, squash courts, an arcade, a stunning golf course, absolutely delicious dining, super friendly staff, comfy and clean accommodations all at an affordable price; this is the place for you!

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the staff was impeccable and extremely welcoming. We began each day with a lovely breakfast/brunch at The Riverview Room located on the main level of the resort. The selection of offerings was lovely and everything was 5 out of 5 in terms of selection, affordability, taste, service and cleanliness. I really appreciated that the kids meals are served with plastic reusable cups with lids, it truly makes such a difference when the kids are provided with lids; it may not seem like a big deal, but for my fellow mamas, I’m sure you understand. I mean, a cup with out a lid at a restaurant when these toddlers are in a new atmosphere and amazed with excitement is an accident waiting to happen! That is a perfect representation of the type of resort this is; Family friendly 100%.

Our stay was during the Labour Day long weekend. That being said, the resort had put together a weekend FULL of family activities for all guests. Some activities were included with your stay price and other activities are available at affordable fee. The activity information schedules were provided to all guests, which clearly outlined the activity name, a brief description, cost, age, time and location. This made it super easy to pre-plan your entire stay and also involve the children in the selection of which activities they wanted to do. That being said, during our stay we agreed on completing 4 activities:

1. Movie night. This was a super fun night. The kids got to stay up past their bedtime for a special movie and popcorn night. We laughed, we bonded, we made memories and we had so much fun during movie night.

2. S’mores. We attended an afternoon crafting activity, which involved putting together s’mores and crafting a super cute box for the s’mores for every child. The kids were also given some chocolate goodies and snacks to put in their crafting boxes.

3. Bird House Decorating. Both the kiddies LOVED this one. All the supplies were included in the program and every child was able to paint a bird feeder. The kids were so excited to take this home and leave them out for the birds. This was a great token to bring home with us after we left the resort.

4. The Bon Fire. This was a beautiful way to end our weekend. We attended the outdoor bonfire, which included marshmallows for roasting and hot chocolate. It was such a beautiful experience to have us together under the stars roasting marshmallows, sipping on hot chocolate, cuddling and having fun.

The activities we chose were perfect. Everything from the organization to execution of each activity was well thought out and the staff members at the events were very friendly, knowledgeable and always remembered the kid’s names, which made attending the activities very special.

Other than attending the pre-scheduled activities, we made use of both the indoor and outdoor pools. The kids quickly become obsessed with the indoor waterfall in the shallow end of the pool. The natural light and large windows in the indoor pool section made us feel as if we were outside. The water was warm and the lifeguards were always on deck and very attentive, which is super important to me. We played several rounds of mini golf, which was loads of fun and also was set up with the cutest animal type theme; the kids had a great time. The arcade was another place we spent some time at each day. Most of the games/rides were only $1.00 and there is a change machine on site for easy access to loonies. The kids really enjoyed the mini merry-go-round and it was great for their age. There are also several older children/adult type games, which include pinball, racing, air hockey etc. All in all, the amenities on site are fabulous and the staff members throughout the resort are extremely friendly and helpful.

We enjoyed tasty dinners during our stay at The Riverview Room. The food was always different and just like the breakfast/brunch there is always a great selection of delicious items to choose from. The gorgeous views of the Riverview Room compliment the open concept style set up perfectly. Our accommodations were fantastic. We stayed in a newly renovated two-queen guest room located on the 5th floor. The beds were extremely plush and comfy, the balcony had gorgeous views of the incredibly breath taking golf course and I absolutely loved the extra pillows in the closet.

I can confidently say that The Nottawasaga Resort has become a close to home favourite place to visit for my family and I. We had such a great stay that I already want to go back and experience all the fun stuff on the schedule for the upcoming Fall/Winter holidays. The Nottawasaga Resort is truly a beautiful picturesque place and is a place where we are so fortunate to have created some of our favourite family memories!
